About Us

Athens Medical Group (AMG) was established in 1984. Its goal: to provide high quality, integrated healthcare services, based on a patient – centered approach. From the first years of its operation, it became a “catalyst” of progress in Healthcare, being the first Greek medical institution to introduce state-of-the-art medical equipment and secure collaborations with distinguished scientists, thus providing services equal to those of internationally acclaimed hospitals.

Through continuous investments, both in Greece and abroad, AMG is among the most dynamic Healthcare organizations and the most reliable providers of diagnostic and hospitalization services, worldwide.

Since 2007, Asklepios Kliniken GmbH has been a key strategic shareholder of Athens Medical Group, both sides collaborating on scientific and business matters and promoting the exchange of medical knowledge and management expertise.

In Greece, AMG runs 7 hospital units with a total number of 1,200 hospital beds, 2,800 highly qualified associate physicians, and 3,000 highly specialized full-time employees.

Additionally, being present in the Balkans, AMG owns 4 diagnostic centers in Romania, through the subsidiary company «Medsana».

Moreover, AMG has ongoing partnerships in North Africa, the Balkans, the broader SE Mediterranean area, Russia and the CIS Countries.

To ensure the best treatment results, AMG focuses on 3 main categories: critical illness, lifestyle medicine and continuing education.

Solidarity and community reinvestment are indispensable parts of Athens Medical Group’s culture as social contribution constitutes a main strategic pillar, since the first day of its operation in 1984.

As a top healthcare services provider, Athens Medical Group consistently executes a multi-dimensional “Corporate Responsibility Program”, through which it offers complete medical services in favor of patients and vulnerable members of society.

The Corporate Responsibility Program includes organized individual programs, delivered consistently every year. These programs are adjusted, on an ongoing basis to address pressing social needs.

International Medical Support

Since its establishment, Athens Medical Group has remained committed to supporting those in need, especially in times of humanitarian crises, on an international level.

Athens Medical Group and its people, throughout the years, have organized and participated in humanitarian aid missions across a number of hotspots, including Armenia, Yugoslavia, Palestine, Kosovo and Pristina.

We actively and consistently support those in need who lack the financial resources, offering appropriate medical services free of charge throughout all of our hospitals, to adults and children from countries that are hit hard by natural disasters or war.

Vodafone Telemedicine Program

In 2008, Athens Medical Group and Vodafone joined forces to develop a comprehensive telemedicine program, leveraging cutting edge technology to provide free access to high quality medical services to more than 500,000 residents of 100 remote areas.

As a result, residents of border areas, included in the program, are linked directly to specialized doctors of Athens Medical Center to receive real-time medical opinions – rapidly and in the convenience of their hometown. Since the program’s launch, a significant number of tests have been successfully executed and, in many cases, further needs for surgery or further tests have been detected.

Vodafone Telemedicine Program in numbers:

  • 12 years
  • 100 remote areas throughout Greece
  • Since 2008, more than 16,000 residents of remote areas have been examined.
  • Since 2008, more than 49,000 tests have been executed.
  • Access to specialized medical services for 500,000 residents.

Medical Adoption Programs

“SOS Children’s Villages”

Since 1984, Athens Medical Group has offered medical care to “SOS Children’s Villages”, in the contex of its Social Responsibility Program. This ‘commitment’ has endowed Athens Medical Group’s Chairman, Dr. George Apostolopoulos, with the title of Honorary Member and Great Benefactor.

Specifically, Athens Medical Groupoffers free of charge treatment, throughout its hospitals in Athens and Thessaloniki, to infants, children and teenagers, as well as SOS Mothers, for any health issues that may occur.

“The Smile of the Child”

Additionally, Athens Medical Group’s medical adoption program includes medical service provision free of charge to “The Smile of the Child”, an organization that supports children that are victims of any form of violence, missing children, children with health problems, children living in poverty or threatened by poverty.

On the side of the Border Areas

Athens Medical Group remains committed to offering medical care to the residents of the border areas of Greece, such as Ai Stratis island, Kiprinos municipality in Evros, Fournoi Ikarias, Samothrace, Orestiada. The benefits include, among a host of services, free of charge hospitalization  at Athens Medical Group’s hospitals, for all children and teenagers, as well as free of charge births  in the Athens Medical Group’s Obstetrics Clinics. In recognition of this commitment, Athens Medical Group’s Chairman, Dr. George Apostolopoulos, has been declared as Honorary Citizen of these areas.

On the side of local municipalities

Peristeri Clinic, focused on serving local municipalities, is proud to offer free cataract surgical treatments to residents in need. In 2014, Peristeri Clinic offered free visits in the Emergency Care Department for all Peristeri residents who had suffered from the devastating floods of October 2018.

Additionally, Paleo Faliro Clinic organizes 1-day conferences with the participation of leading physicians that concentrate on numerous medical issues such as prevention and breast cancer treatment, asthma, urology, and many others. Furthermore, Paleo Faliro Clinic offers unlimited free medical examinations at the hospital’s Emergency Care Department for all residents on the southern outskirts (i.e. the Municipality of Paleo Faliro, Vari, Voula and Vouliagmeni).

The European Interbalkan Medical Center participates in medical and educational missions to the islands of the North Aegean. Residents are tested free of charge, while many of them are welcomed to medical information sessions. In parallel, it offers free examinations to children and adults in need, in cooperation with NGOs and various stakeholders, such as the Rotary Club of Thessaloniki and the House of Culture and Social Solidarity “Aristotelis”. Additionally, personnel from Athens Medical Center and the European Interbalkan Medical Center participate in annual blood donations.

Moreover, Athens Medical Group is proud to lend its support to associations and non-governmental organizations throughout the year, such as ELEPAP and the Greek Society for the Protection of Autistic Persons.

Global Health Days

Athens Medical Group, as part of its “Corporate Responsibility Program”, offers organized prevention examinations programs, as part of Global Health Days, either free of charge or at extremely reduced prices. The core aim of this essential program is the promotion of timely and valid diagnosis which everyone should be aware of and have access to. To date, thousands of patients have availed themselves of this program, taking this opportunity to undertake essential yearly screening tests.
